There is one sin that seems to be universal.  How often does it seem, that no matter where you sit and converse for more than an hour, that you begin to hear something said by someone, that reflects unfavorably upon an individual who is not even present?  I’ve heard everyone from preachers to pew dwellers do this very thing.

Our tongue is a little member, but oh so hard to control.  It’s easy to make ourselves feel superior by verbally bringing into question someone else’s character.  That’s so much easier to do than to deal with our own faults!

We need to make ourselves conscious of this universal sin and ask God to Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.” Psalm 141:3

Gossip of the mouth is tied closely to the love in our heart.  That is the real problem.

A good rule to remember:  Gossip is like soft soap----mostly lie!
