What is the very first detectable sin that we often see in our children's lives?  I believe it is a lying spirit.  Even as infants they begin to lie to us.  The Bible states that we come from the womb speaking lies (Psalm 58:3).  Children learn to exaggerate at a young age and unless parents call exaggeration what it is (lying), then those children grow into adults who become chronic liars.  Our culture is bulging with liars.

Isaiah 5:20 "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"

Deception abounds!  But it should not be found in the lives of professing Christians.  Not being honest with ourselves and our own sin…is deception and lying. 

Colossians 3:9 "Lie not to one another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;"

If lying comes easy for you….it's time for a heart evaluation because your old man is not dead.
